Ode to Punxsutawney Phil AND Sam

Checking out a Wren's site today, I followed what she called a ramble of thoughts and wouldn't you know a silly rhyme came up for me again - she wonders that we don't have Groundhog's Day Cards yet and why not?!

ODE to PP
Frowning and groaning Phil came from the ground

sighing and moaning he turned right around

No more winter we hoped,
but spring's not to be -

Punxsutawney's asleep again under the trees

And, oh did you know, there’s also a Sam
he’s old Phil’s good neighbor, a Canadiam

Seems he came out as Phil did, but wouldn’t you know
the shadows fall differently sometimes on snow

So hope springs eternal and eternally spring….
may be what Sam, Phil and our Al Gore will bring!

  1. i was with you on this until al gore slipped in :-) he seems to take away the potential timelessness of the poem (but perhaps i am wrong...he may be more timeless than all the rest.)
