So how do we......if we don't????

On Maundy Thursday last week, I was reading a post from Country Parson and aside from the fact I found it to be a very intriguing post, there was a comment from Lucy that I found provocative. Lucy's comment had to do with "loving one's neighbor as oneself" with the caveat that some persons don't really love themselves very much.....

Their posts sort of rolled around in my head for a few hours and wouldn't you know, in the evening, I came upon another thought provoking quote that seemed to be in a similar vein of loving oneself.....or not!

The question is not
"why am I so infrequently the person I really want to be,
but why do I so infrequently want to be the person I really am?

Quote from Oriah Mountaindreamer

Do you find your mind tracking a thought long after you've read it, sort of percolating and waiting as with a funnel to pour in the next bit of relevant information? Do you think those moments of funneling are coincidence? Do you attribute them to a higher force that is leading you in a direction that you may or may not want to go? Or do you not bother to think about that kinda stuff at all?

  1. I have several thoughts and images from Holy Week, and before, churning around, but I can't seem to collect them into a sentence, let alone a whole paragraph. They're kind of like a little ring toss game in a cube someone gave me. I can get two rings on, but one pops off. Maybe I should collage it, or try to write a poem. Maybe I'll just let them keep simmering until done. :)

  3. SS--in that last paragraph, you have described my life...my thought processes...the rumbling around in my head...of course, i carry things with me for awhile...AND sometimes i miss what is right in front of my face...and yes, i believe there are times that higher power has to take the giant 2 x 4 and knock me over the head to get my attention...i.e. i believe the funnel is pouring all of the time, from every direction...we can choose to either be open to it or try our hardest to plug it up.

love this post (& the heart graphic)...i also have more thoughts on my comment to CP...glad you caught the overall gist.

  4. Wren - This year's Holy Week was so different for me than in years past. Temporarily w/o a church home, I missed the full week of services, the wonder and awe of those special moments waiting for and with Christ....

Lucy - me too - I think I have nothing particular on my mind and then all of a sudden several events come together and I can't get it down on paper fast enough. I think it's a good thing but I'm always amused by it.
