Oh too grim - but hey, it was kinda fun:) I think I captured all of me except the hair, the eyes, the nose, the mouth, and OHHHHHH those teeth and lips:) Yikes!

i was terrified to even think of a self portrait, much less actually try one...having never imagined drawing before it felt really overwhelming...i have been so inspired to click through and see others posting their wonderful self portraits...i really like your soft shading and am just delighted with your red scarf!

thank you for posting your self portrait...you just never know who you might inspire.

  2. Hi Joanne - I did take a big gulp before I hit the send button! Up until now everything I've done in my little journal (started last fall) I've loved - this sketch, I'm not sure sure:) BUT, your comments made it worthwhile - it's only a sketch, right? Go for it:)

  3. Joanne - whoops, my dog Riley has apparently been on my computer this a.m. My comment was definitely from Sunrise Sister and not really RILEY:)

  4. Joanne again - that DOG is out of control this a.m. I mean he liked our comments as well but he's being ridiculous trying to answer replies this a.m.!

i love your sense of humor and your journal pages! the drawings with the red are very striking... perhaps i might have to give that a try, my problem (one of them) is that i don't know when to stop and keep painting & drawing...
    keep going for it!

  6. Hey, you're a good sport for the comments. I've loved seeing everyone's work at Flickr - a lot of fun. The self-portraits have been challenging AND a giggle.

FYI - artwork running down the right hand side of my blog site are pieces of my collage work. Three out of the 5 of them were entered in regional area juried shows and accepted. A real thrill for me after being away from my art for so many years. Thanks again for your January challenge!
