the eyes stare ahead
no movement is required for tears or sorrow
the moist blink betrays the inward heartache
the stillness of motionless mourners embodies the strangeness-
the strangeness of loss-
the strangeness of passersby whose eyes attempt to stare ahead
or to look away, concealing their own falling tears of compassion
