SO, Lucy has given this Sunrise Sister an "S"- let's see what the Sieve can sift and save.....

1. Sunrise - did you know some people haven't seen a sunrise in years? I would not be one of those people:)

2. Synchronicity - semi-consciousness recognizes coincidence?.... rather, an eerie sense of synchronicity - similarities, sisterhood, satisfaction, sorrow, surprise - situations too profound to be coincidence!

3. Sisterhood - my life beautifully linked - touched by the sisterhood of many ages - my own much younger, amazing sib, a new "sister" - a 40 year old PhD, spiritual sisters from middle 50's through 78, loss through death this year of a 90 year old "sister", savoring another "sister" of almost 90, 60 something "sisters" in dedicated volunteer work, a bipolar "sister" in her 50's, whom I support with prayer and phone calls, 40 something mommies with small children that amaze me with their energy and resourcefulness.....these "sisters" all, - siblings by birth and by blessed adoption!

4. Surprise - Sixty-five! - a number I never thought much about.....oh my, It now adorns my SS Medicare card!

5. Sage - Thank you, thank you...I accept the role of sage but how can that role be given to a woman who is still 32 in her mind and some days even younger than that?

6. Strength of mind and of body. Comfortable and deliberately stretching both each day.

7. Spirituality - a search and a journey that I nourish.

8. Second surfing session scheduled for Maui - February 2008!

9. Savoring each day - the sounds, the sighs, the stillness, the secret, the surprise, the sacred.

10. Sunset - almost as precious as sunrise:)

Shalom!

  1. what a lovely list. i read your words to tess yesterday saying that you were struggling with this a bit. i wonder if you had the same challenge i did of narrowing it down to just ten :-) my other thought was that you already had three easy "s's" go use: sunrise, sunset & of course, sister...so i am delighted to see those three gracing your list.

you are definitely a fabulous 65 and i love that your second surfing session is in the works!!

not surprising at all that the rest of the list could be (and is) my very own.

hope you don't get tired of me telling you how great you are!!

    love you. xoxoxoxoxo

  2. That Lucy sure knows her stuff. This is a lovely list indeed. I share so many "s" words on your list -- savoring sunrises and serendipity ... spirituality and surprise. My list of "P" words will be up soon as Small Reflections. I'm just adding links to the rest of you to spread the love first.
    Hugs and blessings,

  3. Storyteller and Lucy - hardest part of the exercise was deleting many great "s" words. Fun we'll have to do it again sometime.

I see that my links are working but I don't know why they don't show up in "blue" or some other color than black. They come up as blue in the preview.....oh well, the surprising world of MAC is now mine:)

  4. SS: I love these words, and that they start with sunrise and end with sunset provides a lovely pair of bookends. Will be thinking of you in Maui in February - great!

  5. Sunrise Sister - I realized as I published the answer to your question about my "V" alliteration, I was at Lucy's rather than here. Sigh! These things happen. I'm catching up today after being off line for most of the holidays. I'm sorry the post was obscured by additional holiday offerings, but you can find it here:

If that doesn't show up as a clickable link or is too long to be read, here it is in two parts that you can cut & paste into your browser. The title is Vastly Varied Version in Verse and is preceded by a little ditty I wrote while frustrated writing it.

    I hope this helps.
